<p>The paraboloid, of synthetic resin reinforced with glass fibre is made as a single shell with two stiffening rings, one at the rim and another nearer the vertex. Each ring consists of a pre-formed core covered in the moulding, with the glass-fibre-reinforced resin that forms the shell. The core of each stiffening ring consists of a tube surrounded by filler. The paraboloid is mounted by the rear ring. The reflector is made by a known method is which, after the mould is closed and air-sealed, suction is applied to distribute the material uniformly within the mould.</p> |
