1536826 Gas turbine engines; heat exchanger mounting CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 9 Aug 1977 [1 Oct 1976] 33298/77 Heading F1G A recuperative type heat exchanger is mounted on a gas turbine engine such that relative movement can occur. The heat exchanger 36 is mounted on the engine 12, the engine comprising an outlet duct 18 from the compressor which is connected to the heat exchanger 36 by a flexible connection 34 which comprises a transverse portion and two bellows members 30, 32. The heated air outlet 50 from the heat exchanger is connected to the combustion chamber inlet 45 of the engine by a flexible bellows 44 and a trunnion connection 58: The turbine exhaust duct is connected to the heat exchanger by a clamp type connection 23, Fig. 7. The right-hand end of the heat exchanger is supported from the engine by a bracket assembly 27 connected to the heat exchanger by a pivoted link arrangement. Bracket members 46, 47 are connected to the engine structure adjacent the hot air inlet 45 and trunnion pins 58 extend from the bracket members into openings 56 formed in bosses 54 carried by the heat exchanger casing hot air outlet duct 50. The bracket assembly 27 is rigidly connected to the engine 12 by plates 72 and flexibly to the heat exchanger members 92 by double-pivotal links 82. |
