<p>The system conveying traffic where routes cross waterways, without involving bridge construction or deep tunnelling. Use is made of a tunnel tube with uplift causing it to float in the water. The tube (1) has anchors (2) fastening it to foundations (3), preventing it from floating too high up and holding it firmly in the required position. The tube may be moved to the site as a single entity or in large sections, and brought into position with the aid of the anchors. Shafts can be provided for ventilation (4) and electric services (5), and stability under water pressure can be given by external or internal ribs.</p> |
