The retractable roller (13), for a suitcase, is fitted in a fixed frame (1) that forms a housing (2). The roller's support (11) pivots round a transverse axle (12) and is moved by a spring (15) into an active position. A catch (7) holds the support in a jutting out position or a retracted position. - The catch moves in a guide (3) and is operated by a button (9) that is accessible from outside. Each extremity of the support (22) cooperates with the catch in two positions, separated by 180 deg., in which the support is parallel to the opening, in the housing.
