(Hydrocarbylthio)aromatic amines, such as (alkylthio)anilines, are prepared by heating one or more other (hydrocarbylthio)aromatic amines in the presence of a catalyst, such as aluminium chloride, to redistribute the hydrocarbylthio groups.
