If coils having a plurality of turns are required for electromagnetic trip devices of switching apparatuses, then it is normal to produce the coils on winding machines. It is intended to reduce the manufacturing cost associated with this. In the case of a method for producing an electromagnetic trip device, a conductor (2) which is required to form the coil (7) is initially connected in the extended state to components (3, 4) passing onwards, and is then formed into a coil (7), in a further step. The components which pass onwards are connected, before or after the coil is formed, to corresponding mating elements of the current path of the switching apparatus. The method is suitable for the production of electromagnetic trip devices of low-voltage switching apparatuses, especially of power circuit breakers (power switches) having a relatively low rated current. <IMAGE>
