<p>A vehicle cradle or tilter comprises a semi-circularly shaped rail (3, 4) secured at each vehicle axle and extending under the vehicle (2), the rails being designed to roll on a substrate (1) on lateral tilting of the vehicle (2) to provide access to its underside. The rails (3, 4) have at least one side portion extending along one side of the vehicle (2), and the rails (3, 4) are mutually adjustably interconnected by the intermediary of a bar (5, 6) extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle (2). In order to permit rapid handling and tilting in both directions, the rails (3, 4) are provided with support plates (12) onto which the wheels (10, 11) of the vehicle may be driven with the aid of ramps (7, 8, 9). The rails (3, 4) are provided with portions (19, 20) located beneath the support plates and pivotal between a drive-on position along the substrate (1) and a vertical tilting position in which the vehicle cradle rests on these portions (19, 20).</p> |
