PURPOSE:To obtain a new derivative useful an agri chemical and an insecticide, having extremely excellent controlling effect on harmful organisms. CONSTITUTION:A derivative of formula I (Z is 2-chloropyridin-5-yl or 2- chlorothiazol-5-yl; R1 is 1-5C alkyl or 1-4C alkynyl; R2 is 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxyalkyl, etc.) such as l-(2-chloropyridin-5-ylmethyl)-2-nitrosoimino-3-(1- allyloxypropyl)imidazoline. The compound of formula I, for example, is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III in the absence of a solvent or in a solvent optionally in the presence of a catalyst preferably at room temperature to 200 deg.C for 0.5-20 hours to give a new intermediate of formula IV, then reacting the compound of formula IV with a compound of formula V (X is Cl or Br) in the presence of a deoxidizer in a solvent preferably at 0-100 deg.C for 0.1-15 hours.
