An apparatus (11) for spreading manure, including an elongate hopper (12) mounted on a mobile chassis. An axial supply rotor (18) extends along the inside of the base of the hopper and pushes the manure forwards towards a transfer rotor (25) which pushes the material laterally through an opening (21) towards a turbine operating in a supply from above mode and throws the manure on to the side of the appliance (11). Blades (19) extending outwards with respect to the axis of the rotor are mounted on the core (20) of the axial feed rotor (18) and are intended to push the material in the direction of the axis. The axial discharge efficiency of the rotor (18) is reduced so that it can be matched to the capability of the turbine. In order to improve the performance, the ratio of the outer diameter (d) of the core (20) to the total diameter (D) of the rotor (18) is 1 : 2.8. <IMAGE> |
