PURPOSE: To treat an animal without irritating or damaging the animal by forming a container for storing a working fluid, and providing a vibrator which applies ultrasonic vibrations to the working fluid at a specific frequency and specific power intensity at a certain position of the container relative to the working fluid. CONSTITUTION: A bathtub 16 for storing a working fluid 18 comprising water or a solution of water and additives is formed, and a vibrator 30 for applying ultrasonic vibrations to the working fluid 18 in the frequency range of 15 to 100 kHz and at a power density occurring in at least a part of the range from 0.1 to 30 watt per cubic centimeter, at a position below the surface of the working fluid 18 in the bathtub 16, is provided in the bathtub 16. Then body- propagated audible sounds coming via the working fluid 18 in the bathtub 16 are sensed, and by varying the application of subharmonic to the working fluid 18 until the body-propagated audible sounds are improved, the bathtub 16 is adjusted so that undesired body-propagated audible noises are reduced.
