<p>The brewing device comprises a brewing cylinder (9) having a cylindrical bore (10) in which a lower plunger (8) is arranged so as to be freely movable and longitudinally displaceable. An upper plunger (7) is firmly connected to a frame (1). Parallel to the vertically arranged brewing cylinder (9) there is a drive spindle (6) which has guiding means (23). A carrier member (24) connected to the brewing cylinder has further guiding means (25) which are engaged with those of the drive spindle (6). By rotating the drive spindle (6) in one direction or the other, the brewing cylinder is moved upwards or downwards. The brewing cylinder is filled with ground coffee via a funnel (12) which can be pivoted out. In order to determine the quantity of ground coffee contained, the brewing cylinder is moved upwards under time control, at least until a counter force produced by the upper plunger (7) over the compressed ground coffee is as great as the driving force of the spindle. In order to allow the preferred brewing of loose ground coffee, the brewing chamber formed between the two plungers (7, 8) is slightly enlarged again before the actual brewing operation. The device is distinguished particularly by its simple construction with few parts subject to wear, the simple construction being enhanced by the omission of limiting switches as a result of the complete time control of the drive spindle. <IMAGE></p> |
