The drive comprises at least one hydraulic ram (6), whose one end abuts the boot lid lever arm (2), while its other end is linked to a car coupled component. The lid is secured in its closed position by a locking mechanism (7,14), whose components are arranged partly on the car and partly movably on boot lid. The lid lever arm can be secured in its closed position by a feed block of the hydraulic ram, actuated by the locking mechanism, in which an annular plate (7), protruding from the ram end section, coacts with a locking stop (14), with either the plate or the stop releasable. The feed block can be lifted by shifting one of the locking mechanism components.
