The field lettuce planting starts with depositing the seeds on a growing substrate (15) laid on a ground surface (5), through which the plants penetrate. The ground surface is then positioned in a distance from the soil bed (21) proper. The seeds are pref. refined and sown in a humidity layer technique using vegetable starch or selection. Typically the growing substrate is cut into sizes ready for selling. It has to be watered prior to sowing.
