PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a functionalized polybutylene excellent in reactivity and useful as an intermediate for producing a copolymer and a modifier for siloxane polymers by reacting an anhydride-functional polybutylene with a specific allyl- functional compound. SOLUTION: This functionalized polybutylene is obtained by reacting (A) an anhydride-functional polybutylene such as a compound of the formula (Z is a polymer chain or an oligomer chain consisting substantially of a butylene recurring unit) with (B) an allyl-functional compound having one or more hydroxyl-containing groups in the molecule, e. g. a compound of the formula HO-Q-CH2 CH=CH2 (Q is an organic connecting group).
