PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ignore bit extending and recompressing means on the way and to reduce a circuit scale by allowing a receiver to record and reproduce received digital information that is subjected to bit compression as it is, and to perform error correction according to each added different transmission and record parity signal at the time of receiving, recording and reproducing. SOLUTION: A receiving circuit 30 receives bit compressed digital information, which is subjected to bit compression by compression circuits 22 and 23 from a transmission line 27, and to which a transmission parity signal is added by a parity additional circuit 24. An error correction circuit 32 performs error correction of digital information, based on the transmission parity signal and a parity additional circuit 33 adds a record parity signal that is different from the transmission parity signal to the digital information. Magnetic heads 41 and 42 record the digital information on a magnetic tape 40 as it is, an error correction circuit 61 performs error correction on the reproduced signal of a cylinder 43 according to the record parity signal, and then extension circuits 62 and 63 extend it. Thus, it is possible to record a video signal at high speed in the same format as that of a standard stenographic record.
