Inhibition of 5 alpha-reductase activity by fatty esters, useful for prostate hypertrophia and adenoma, acne, hyperseborrhea, alopecia, hirsutism and the like

The use of a fatty ester in compositions that inhibit 5 alpha -reductase activity, a cosmetic treatment using such an ester, and their use in human or animal foods is new. The fatty esters have a straight or branched alkoxy group of 1-30C atoms that may be substituted, especially by OH, and a saturated or unsaturated fatty hydrocarbon chain of 7 - 30C atoms that may be substituted especially by OH or an ester group. Independent claims cover a method of cosmetic treatment using these esters and their use as additives in human or animal foods.
