PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain fluctuation of supplied power and enable a suitable power supply. SOLUTION: The lighting device for an electrodeless discharge lamp is provided with an electrodeless discharge lamp 4 of induction coupling, a high-frequency power source 1, and an output circuit 2 furnished with excitation coil for supplying the above electrodeless discharge lamp with power obtained from the above high-frequency power source 1, and it is so constructed that the absorption confficident Xa/Ra is to set Q of the above excitation coil 3 nearly at minimum during lighting of the above discharge lamp, when equivalent discharge reactance is set as jXa.
