<p>1320189 Titanium chloride E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 20 Oct 1970 [22 Oct 1969] 49726/70 Heading C1A In the recovery of TiCl 4 from the effluent resulting from the chlorination of a titaniferous material, the temperature of the effluent containing FeCl 2 and FeCl 3 in a mole ratio of at least 1 as well as TiCl 4 is maintained at at least 20‹ C. above the dew point of FeCl 2 during transfer from the chlorination furnace through a transfer duct (whose exterior is externally coded so as to form a ferrous chloride coating on the inside of the duct) to a condenser where the effluent is contacted with liquid TiCl 4 to produce solid FeCl 2 and FeCl 3 and gaseous TiCl 4 which is recovered.</p> |
