System for continuously bonding two layers of sheet or film face to face by using a mobile chariot for continuously dispensing a hot melt adhesive between the two layers and consolidating the joint with a roller. For making lap joints between adjacent strips of roofing material, reservoir linings etc. Esp. efficient for bonding thick (>=2 mm) sheets, by restricting heat transfer to the intermediate adhesive and to the inner surfaces of the films. Joint quality relatively insensitive to external atmospheric or ground temperatures or conditions. The bulk of each sheet remains relatively cool for sustaining consolidation pressures, begging tensions etc. |
