The magnetic scanning head uses the magneto resistance effect of a thin layer of ferro-magnetic material. The response is in the form of a variation of an electrical resistance when an external magnetic field is applied. The variation in resistance is detected as the variation of the current strength produced by a constant voltage. The scanning head has a second anisotropic magnetic resistance layer parallel to the first magneto resistance layer. The axis of anisotropy is parallel to the axis of anisotropy of the first layer. The two layers are magnetostatically coupled. One of the layers supplied with power and can detect the response signal.
