The bottoms of the hoppers are closed by flaps 18, 19 which are so operated by a cam 23 that, when one is open, the other is closed. The hoppers are cooled by water jackets. The granules are discharged into a shoot 31. In a modification, Fig. 14, the bottom of an intermediate hopper 125 is closed by a pneumatically operated valve 128, when the flap 130 of the bottom hopper 126 is open. |
