The shock absorber block (12) is arranged for mounting on a base (10) with a central slot (10A). The block has a central lug (12B) which fits into the central slot. The lug is protected by a metal cap (16) which follows the shape of the lug and penetrates the block, and has a flange (24) to locate it. The lug is fitted with a neck to hold it in position.
