PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material capable of recording information with a high energy beam less in deterioration of the recording sensitivity and having a protective layer of sufficient film strength by means of a specified composite protective layer provided on the recording layer arranged on the support member. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer 11 about 300 to 1,500 Angstrom thick made of metal of such as Sn, Bi and In and a layer about 50 to 1,000 Angstrom thick made of compound such as GeS and PbI2 is provided on a support member 10 such as polyethyleneterephthalate. Then, on the layers provided are the first protective film 13 about 0.1 to 10mu made of a high polymer with a softening temperature (decomposition temperature) of about more tha 150 deg.C such as polyolefin halide, polyethylene (derivative) rubber halide and the second protective film 14 0.1 to 20 mu thick made of a copolymer with a tensile strength of more than about 40 N/mm<2> such as polybutadien and polyester. In this manner, a thermal recording material is produced. |
