In an explosion flap for compensating pressure surges in the case of potential dust or gas explosions, a light construction is to be made possible which serves for displacing volumes of air for damping the kinetic energy of the explosion flap arising due to the explosion. This is achieved according to the invention by an absorption plate (1) which is connected to the outlet nozzle by elastic elements (2), in particular the absorption plate and the side of the explosion flap which pressurises the absorption plate being designed as flat surfaces. <IMAGE>
