A fixed base body with a vertical rectangular cavity receives a replaceable trough for liq. samples, esp. those intended for transfer by pipette or multiple side-by-side pipettes. The trough is of downwardly tapering triangular cross-section, pref. with a vertical face in close contact with the cavity wall and an inclined rear face extended into a curled upper lip to aid handling. In an alternative, both main walls of the trough are inclined. The vertical face may support projecting arms from a multiple pipette whose nozzle tips reach the slightly rounded base of the trough. Used in laboratories. Smaller amts. of sample or reagent are needed.
