PURPOSE:To lighten steering in the movement of a vehicle up a steep slope, by providing a variable orifice in the flow control valve of a hydraulic device for power steering so that the restriction of flow rate by the orifice is decreased when an engine is rapidly rotated in the movement of the vehicle up the steep slope. CONSTITUTION:Working oil is sucked from a reservoir 4 through a pipe 1e, pressurized and discharged through a pipe 1f by the rotation of the rotor 1j of a pump which is driven by an engine and whose discharge quantity can be altered by operating a cam ring 1a. The discharged oil is supplied to an actuator 3 made of a power cylinder, through a flow control valve 2, to apply an assisting steering force. The flow control valve 2 comprises a piston 2d, which has a hole 2f and is urged rightward by a spring 2i, and a plunger 2g urged rightward by a spring 2j provided in a body 2A. A variable orifice is provided between the front end 2h of the plunger 2g and the hole 2b. |
