Washing using a heavy medium for the densimetric separation of a raw material (for example coal or various ores) into enriched products on the one hand and products containing no desired material on the other hand, the density of this medium being kept at a preset value. For precise control of the density of the washing medium, a predetermined relationship between the preset density of this medium and the content in the raw material of one or more of its components is established, the measurement of this content is carried out and the preset density of the medium is made dependent on this content in accordance with this relationship. |
