The invention relates to a method and an appliance for reactivating a completely or almost completely discharged redox cell. The method according to the invention is characterised in that the anode fluid of the anode compartment is treated with a metal or a metal alloy which is less noble than or equally noble to the metal whose cations are present in the anode fluid, and the cathode fluid in the cathode compartment is treated with an oxidant, if required.
