PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the length of a blank region of a magnetic disk where reading and writing of information can not be performed.SOLUTION: A reading element part 13 and a recording element part 14 are disposed on a downstream side and an upstream side in a rotation direction (circumferential speed V) of the magnetic disk 2, respectively. A distance Lwr between the reading element part 13 and the recording element part 14 in the rotation direction of the magnetic disk 2 is set to a length equal to or shorter than the length of a movement distance V×Twr of the magnetic disk 2 in time Twr necessary for switching of a control system from recording operation to reading operation.
