In the case of the switching mechanism (1) for line protection circuit breakers, the contact lever (6) consists of a stamped part which is constructed to be essentially flat transversely with respect to the functional or pivoting plane and has a straight centre part (15), which extends in front of the fixed-position shaft (12), and a latching pin (17) which is bent or offset from there to the rear, parallel to the plane of the centre part (15), above the point (16) at which the contact spring (5) acts, and is constructed with a latching edge (18) which is inclined in the form of a roof. On both sides of the point (16) at which the contact spring (5) acts, there are two shoulders (19a, 19b), which project to the side in the plane of the centre part (15) and have side flaps (20a, 20b) which are directed downwards therefrom, are bent to the rear on both sides of the flat centre part (15) and are bent back again, approximately in a U-shape towards the centre part (15) at their free ends, to form mutually aligning elongated holes (10a, 10b) for the fixed-position shaft (12). The latching clip (3) consists of a plastic part having a latching head (21), which engages over the latching pin (17) of the contact lever (6) in the form of a cap and has a latching step (22) which runs transversely with respect to the functional plane of the contact lever (6) and parallel to its latching edge (18), and against which the latching edge (18) of the contact lever (6) rests flat in the clamping or switched-on position. <IMAGE>
