PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a failure of an attachment sensor with high reliability without using a separate sensor.SOLUTION: A recording device includes an attachment sensor which detects whether a paper feed tray is attached or not and outputs an attachment signal in response to a detection result, and a remaining amount sensor which detects a remaining amount of papers stored in the paper feed tray and outputs a remaining amount signal in response to a detection result. The recording device executes remaining amount change determination processing (S1, S3) in which the remaining amount signals output from the remaining amount sensor are acquired at a plurality of times and whether the remaining amount of the papers stored in the paper feed tray changes or not is determined; and attachment/detachment determination processing (S2, S4) in which whether attachment/detachment of the paper feed tray to an attachment part is carried out or not is determined based on the attachment signal output by the attachment sensor in a period when the remaining amount of the papers changes when it is determined that the remaining amount of the papers changes in the remaining amount change determination processing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
