The invention relates to a cooling box for conducting away the waste heat from semiconductor elements, in particular power rectifiers, consisting of two shells with a connecting element for feeding in and carrying away the cooling fluid (service water) with flow obstacles (cooling ribs) provided inside the shells and with contact panels for receiving the heat emitted by the semiconductor element and for distributing it to the cooling fluid. A cooling box is to be provided which can be cooled with normal water, i.e. with service water, and in which no glow discharges occur and the cooling boxes themselves are to be voltage free. In addition, a compact design of the rectifiers is to be obtained. This is achieved in that, using service water as the cooling fluid, an insulating panel made of inorganic insulating material is arranged between the contact panel and the shell, the diameter of the insulating panel being greater than the diameter of the shell and of the contact plate.
