Highly thermoconductive ceramic substrate comprises a substrate with an electroconductive coating of W and/or Mo plus the nitride of a IVa transition metal. Coating may be patterned; it may also have a further metal coating. Pref. coating contains W and/or Mo and a IVa metal nitride in a total amt. of not below 50 mol %, and each componenet separately in an amt. not substrate is a non-oxide type, (nitride type). Coating is applied by standard paste metallisation techniques using-metal precursor cpds.
