<p>A machine tool controlling subsystem for use with a distributed system comprises a plurality of such subsystems (11, 21, 41; 12, 22, 42...1n, 2n, 4n), each of which includes a machine tool, and a transmission medium (30) operatively associated with said subsystems for transmitting information to said subsystems.
