The apparatus offers a locking device maintaining high- security and simple-structure and opening by recognizing the hand pattern of human body correctly and checking the personal identity. The apparatus comprises a finger identifying section with inline type sensors for checking the shift-length of fingers, a driving section for parallelly shifting the identifying section along the hand, a counting section conne ted with the driving section for measuring the shifted length, a memorizing section for memorizing characteristic pattern signal of person, a comparing section for comparing the identified signal with the memorized signal and deciding the lock opening, a driving section for opening locking device according to the signal from comparing section.
