摘要 An internal combustion engine (1) operates with throttle-free load-dependent charge control by adjustment of the timing of engine valves. To avoid a troublesome reduction in the final compression temperature in certain load ranges of the engine (1), which is otherwise associated with this technique, the fresh gas is preheated by means of an exhaust heat exchanger (5) which forms part of a heat pump. To overcome the inertia of this charge control and preheating system, a conventional throttle butterfly (10) is briefly brought into action in the case of commands for a load change (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
