Controlling washing machine to cut water consumption

A process is for controlling a washing machine equipped with a water supply control system. It involves measuring a first sub volume of water directly or indirectly at the start of a wash program. The measurement is used as a basis for calculating further water volumes. A total water volume required for the whole wash program is registered in accordance with the first water volume. The residual water volume consisting of the difference between the total volume and the first part volume is distributed between subsequent program steps.
