PURPOSE: To provide an ink jet head of high reliability suppressing the generation of residual charge in an actuator and capable of stably emitting ink and adapted to an ink jet recording apparatus. CONSTITUTION: An ink jet head has nozzles 4, the ink passages communicating with the nozzles 4, the vibration plates 5 provided to a part of the ink passages, the individual electrodes 21 provided in opposed relation to the vibration plates 5 and the air layer 9 and insulating layer 19 provided between the vibration plates 5 and the individual electrodes and is constituted so that drive voltage is applied across a common electrode 18 and the individual electrodes 21 to deform the vibration plates 5 by electrostatic force to emit ink liquid droplets 105 from the nozzles. This ink jet head is characterized in that the resistivity of the material of the individual electrodes 21 and the common electrode 18 is 6×10<-4>Ωcm or less and adapted to an ink jet recording apparatus.
