The hinge comprises a first fitting (3) secured to the door (2) and a second one (4) secured to a fixed part such as a doorpost (1). A hinging component (17) is coupled via first and second hinge joints (18,16) to the respective fittings. Components (20,21) are provided coupling the fittings together in the direction of their hinging movement, and typically consisting of rotary bodies rolling against each other and concentric to the joints. The components can have intermeshing teeth with pitch circles of different diameters, one being twice the size of the other. Alternatively the ratio between the two can be 37:24. A flat can be formed on one or both bodies, and they can be on parallel axes. |
