The device has pipes (18) containing a circulating medium, which is heated to above freezing point. The pipes are fastened to the vehicle underbody (12), and form an integral circuit (16). This is connected to the cooling medium circuit of the vehicle engine. The device may consist of electrical heat conductors, fastened to the underbody and actuated via a switch in the vehicle cockpit.
