PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide PDP with good color reproduction with high light-emission efficiency and provide a method to carry out calcination, seal-welding, and exhausting for manufacturing PDP for a short time and low energy consumption. SOLUTION: A phosphor baking, seal-welding material calcination, seal- welding, exhausting or the like in manufacturing processes of PDP is carried out in a dried gas atmosphere or in an atmosphere in which a dried gas flows under reduced pressure. Or, a front face substrate and a back face substrate are calcinated in a state where the opposing faces are open, front face substrate and back face substrate are seal-welded while a dried gas is flown in the inside space, or both substrates re overlapped and seal-welded together after the front face substrate and the back face substrate are preheated with the opposing faces open. Or, after finishing seal-welding of the overlapped front and back panel substrates, exhausting is started without lowering the temperature down to the room temperature, or after calcinations of sel-welding materials, seal- welding is started without lowering the temperature of the substrates down to the room temperature.
