PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving set for digital broadcasting which can display still pictures when a digital VTR (Video Tape Recorder), connected via digital interface, is in still condition. SOLUTION: In the flow chart, if output signal format is in digital mode (YES on S5), go to S6 to monitor digital VTR operating condition. If digital VTR is not in reproducing condition (NO on S7), judge whether it is in still condition on S8. If it is in still condition (YES on S8) and not receiving TS (Transport Stream) (NO on S9), go to S11. On S11, the image frame, displayed immediately before the digital VTR has changed to still condition and remaining in the frame buffer of MPEG decoder 4, is outputted repeatedly as image output to achieve still picture display.
