PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a multilayered coating film and a coated product such that good appearance of a coating film is obtained in a water-based overcoat system, and moreover, the method contributes to reduction in the process, environmental preservation, source material saving and energy saving. SOLUTION: The multilayered coating film is formed on a substrate by successively carrying out the following processes. They are a process (1) to preliminarily heat the substrate, a process (2) to form an overcoat base coating film on the preliminarily heated substrate by using a water-based overcoat base coating material as the coating material of a first layer, a process (3) to form an overcoat top clear coating film on the overcoat base coating film by using an overcoat top clear coating material as the coating material for a second layer, and a process (4) to bake and harden the overcoat base coating film and the overcoat top clear coating film at a time.
