PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking support device capable of supporting the driver's parking operation to the maximum degree in compliance with the spaciousness of the target parking position and the situation about obstacle in the surrounding area. SOLUTION: The parking support device comprises a display 6 to inform visually the driver of the parking support information including the target parking position and own vehicle position, a locus calculating means M1 to calculate the predicted moving locus of the vehicle concerned from the moving distance of the vehicle and the steering angle, an interference detection means M2 to detect whether the predicted moving locus interfers with the target parking position, and an information determining means M3 to determine the parking support information thereafter on the basis of existence or none of any interference. Further the information determined means M3 includes a switchback effectiveness detecting means M4 to detect whether eventual interference can be avoided by the switchback motion of the vehicle concerned and a selecting means M5 to select the switchback motion in the case that interference is avoidable.
