FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: fertilizer is produced from nutritive substance pellets having intermediate layer or preliminary coating layer of organic oil, such as crude linseed oil, which is applied before covering with polymeric encapsulating coating. Preliminary coating may comprise binder, such as finely ground clay, and desiccator. Composition is produced by method involving applying preliminary oil coating without hardening thereof until encapsulating coating is applied. Usage of preliminary coating provides desired characteristics for controllable (slowed down) release at lower percentage of encapsulating coating, in particular, for nutritive components having relatively larger amount of defects or surface breakage. Method may be used for producing individual fertilizer compositions formed from nutritive pellets (such as NPK pellets) having intermediate layers and encapsulating outer layers.
