PURPOSE: A lamp holder assembly and a backlight unit employing the same are provided to simplify the lamp holder structure, and keep the strength of an upper lamp holder part, which fixes fluorescent lamps, for protecting the external electrodes of the fluorescent lamps against the external impact. CONSTITUTION: A lamp holder assembly includes upper and lower lamp holder parts(210,220), a conductive strip(28), and reflection elements. The lower lamp holder is formed of a polymer with high elasticity and has a plurality of lamp insertion grooves(221) by a predetermined interval. External electrode parts(23a) of fluorescent lamps(23) are inserted into the grooves. The lower lamp holder part has a securing surface(222) disposed by the conductive strip formed of metal. The conductive strip is in the parallel structure to contact the external electrodes of the fluorescent lamps. The upper lamp holder is coupled with the lower lamp holder part and is formed in the bar shape to cover the top surface of the lower lamp holder part secured by the external electrodes. The upper lamp holder has pressing parts(212) for supporting the conductive strip. The reflecting elements are formed to the upper and lower lamp holder parts to re-project the light of the fluorescent lamps to a diffusion plate after reflection. |
