<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery pack with a configuration in which desired functions can be simply expanded to an electronic device. <P>SOLUTION: The battery pack includes a cartridge insertion section capable of inserting a cartridge provided with a function expansion means for expanding the functions of an electric device, a function expansion terminal for connecting with the cartridge inserted into the cartridge insertion section, and an expanded functions operation means for operating the function expansion means of the cartridge connected to the function expansion terminal in accordance with a control signal of the electronic device transmitted via a communication terminal. The functionally expanded cartridge includes a connector for connecting with a designated terminal provided within the slot of a battery pack, a communication means for performing a data communication between the battery pack and the electronic device via the connector, a function expansion means having a hardware and/or a software for expanding the functions of the electronic device, and a function expansion controlling means for controlling the function expansion means in accordance with a control signal from the electronic component transmitted via the communication means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
