<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device that facilitates the registration of fixed sentences including pictographs and facilitates the use of the registered fixed sentences in character input. <P>SOLUTION: A user operates a button operation part 4 to cause a CPU 2 to execute a control program in a ROM 3. After a start point and end point of a character string in a character input screen displayed on a display part 1 are selected and semantic information corresponding to the character string is next input, a menu position is selected to register and save the character string and semantic information along with the selected menu position information in a RAM 5. For later use, the selection of the menu reads the registration from the RAM 5 to the character input screen, where it can be used conveniently in character input.
