1383187 Stud-and-socket fastenings GULF & WESTERN INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS CO 31 July 1973 [9 Aug 1972] 36453/73 Heading E2B An apertured plate C is secured to a base B by a shaft E which is moved axially into or out of the aperture 14 by a threaded nut F which is rotated in either direction by a geared motor K and is rotated to place the head 40 into the fastening position or out of the (shown ghosted) by the torque at the extreme limits of the driving thread. Rotation is prevented during axial motion by a fixed projection (127, not visible) engaging an axial slot 110 but allowing fastening rotation by passage into circumferential slot 122 at the outermost position of the shaft and when another pin (136, also not visible) is withdrawn from the slot 110 by an electromagnet controlled by a limit switch LS1. The switch LS2 detects a slot 144 in the shaft to signal complete fastening. |
