<p>1374513 Grinding wheels NORTON CO 8 March 1972 [15 March 1971] 10788/72 Heading B3D [Also in Division C4] A grinding wheel 21 has an abrasive section 24 consisting of resin-bond type diamond abrasive grains bonded in a metal matrix, the matrix including a filler which consists of graphite or hexagonal boron nitride, or molybdenum disulphide, or a mixture of these, in amount of from 18-45% by volume of the bond, the fillers having a particle size of from 1 micron to 160 microns. The wheel may be of the cup-type and the diamonds may be synthetic. The diamond abrasive grains may be coated with a continuous film of a metal having a melting point above 500‹ C. The metal matrix may have a melting point above 300‹ C. and it may include an intermetallic compound such as copper-tin.</p> |
